Hector Maclean, whose origins span war-torn Poland, occupied France, and rural Zimbabwe, draws on this diverse history to create designs that resonate with both gravitas and playfulness. The clan slogan, “Bàs no Beatha” (“Death or Life”), is central to his work, reflecting his near-death experience and the raw authenticity it brings. His collections, influenced by his upbringing as the son of an artist and dancer, combine romance and radicalism, disorder, and elegance.

Chris’s journey, led him to study viticulture, brewing, and distillation, refining his palette and quest to create the perfect gin. His near-death experience inspired the creation of Gothic Gin, with the motto “Per Divintatum Lumen” (Latin for “enlightenment through divinity”).
